He probably just needs some space. Which is convenient, we got a lot of it.

[ He does succeed in making Darcy laugh, at least, but it's a nervous sort of giggle. Things are serious, but she desperately needs for them to be not quite so serious. Any other time, she would probably be talking to the perfect person for that. ]
